Mt Maunganui Beach

It was a sizzling, scorching, sweltering day at Mt Maunganui.  I woke up in a joyous mood as we were going to the beach today.

I went to change my clothes then we went out to the coffee shop to get breakfast. I got a hot chocolate and a croissant.  After we ate our delicious food, we walked to the beach. We went to get changed into our togs to swim.

As dad, mum and I stood on the sand, we saw massive waves with white bubbles on top.  I heard the waves crashing onto the sand and seagulls squawking. The people surfing in the water looked like small boats in the water.  The sun was shining bright like a light.

Then I went to sit on the sand but my cousins were still in the water.  Two minutes walk from the beach was a pool so I asked if i could go in it but the answer was no.  The beach water was warm because of the sun. The sand was hot so I had to wear my sandals

When we got out of the water and had finished showering, my mum got me chicken and chips.  The meal was gross so luckily my dad went and got McDonalds which I liked much better. After we ate our food,
we went to a park that didn't have a beach but it had a playground.  We played there for a bit then we got back in our cars and my cousin came to our car and we headed back to Auckland .

I think that Mt Maunganui beach was idyllic, relaxing and fascinating it was a fantastic summer holiday destination

Mt Maunganui
WALT: Write a setting description, describing our senses

As I stood waiting for the lift to arrive to take me to my hotel, I gazed out at the main street of Mt Maunganui.

I saw many different restaurants and smelt delicious aromas wafting from their doors.  The smell of hash browns, sausages and pancakes overwhelmed me. The store was painted brown and in white writing it said, ‘Turkish kebabs and sausages.’  People sat happily at the establishment, chatting, laughing and relaxing while eating delicious food.

A few shops later I saw a clothing shop, it had dresses and other types of clothes, such as skirts, pants and t-shirts. The dresses were pink, orange, purple and green, they looked so vibrant.

Exciting, noisy, crowded and joyous.  The main street of Mt Maunganui was a must see.
